Nothing in your browser watches you. The server keeps a log, and we read it.

The short version

• No analytics script and no tracking pixel. Nothing loaded into your browser reports on what you do here.
• The server that delivers this page logs the request, and we read those logs — for speed, for finding what is confusing or broken, and for security. Never sold, never shared, never used for advertising.
• No cookies are set by this site, so there is no cookie banner to dismiss.
• No third-party scripts, embeds, pixels, chat widgets, or externally hosted fonts.
• No forms and no accounts, so there is nothing to submit and nothing to sign into.
• No external network requests. Every asset comes from this domain.

What the page itself collects

Nothing. These pages are static files, and no application code runs in your browser, so there is no mechanism by which the page could gather anything about you even if it wanted to. What the serverrecords when it hands you that page is a separate question, answered in the next section — and the answer there is not “nothing”.

Concretely, and to account for the things a privacy notice normally has to account for: this site loads no analytics script from any vendor and runs no self-hosted equivalent in your browser; loads no fonts, stylesheets, or scripts from anyone else's servers; embeds no videos, maps, social feeds, or comment systems; runs no advertising, retargeting, or conversion tags; sets, reads, and shares no cookies; uses neither local storage nor session storage; and does not fingerprint your browser.

This part is checkable rather than promised. Every claim in the paragraph above is a statement about the files this site ships, and anyone can verify it — open the developer tools on this page and watch the network tab, or build the site from its source and search the output. That is the reason these claims are worded so narrowly.

Even the typeface is served from this domain rather than from a font service, which is the same reasoning applied everywhere on the site: a request to somebody else's server is a request that tells somebody else you were here.

Hosting, server logs, and what we do with them

This site is a folder of static files. There is no application server and no database behind it. It is served from Amazon S3 through Amazon CloudFront, both operated by Amazon Web Services. Delivering a page means your device asks a server for a file, and that request is recorded in a standard access log — an IP address, a timestamp, the file requested, and a user-agent string.

Those logs are read, and reading them is analytics.Calling it anything else would be a word game. There is no analytics product and no script in your browser, but the request log is reviewed, and reviewing it answers questions like which pages are slow, which links are broken, what is failing, and whether anyone is attacking the site. That is how the site is kept fast, usable, and secure.

The limits on it are real ones, and they are the whole commitment this page makes about the practice: that information isnever sold, never shared with anyone for their own purposes, and never used for advertising or marketing. It is not combined with data from anywhere else, and it is not accumulated to build a picture of you as a person — the questions it gets asked are about the site, not about individual visitors. Nothing beyond operating this site is done with it.

Unlike the previous section, you cannot verify this by inspecting the page — it is a statement about what a company does, not about what a file contains. It is a promise, and it is written here plainly so that it is one that can be held against us.

Cookies are excluded from those access logs by the distribution's own logging configuration, and the logs are deleted after 90 days. Leaving cookies out is a setting on the log writer itself, so it does not depend on what any browser sends. Nothing is derived from those logs that outlives them: they are not copied into a database, not queried into a saved report, and not fed into a dashboard. When they expire, that is the end of them.

Your request also passes through your own network provider and any resolver you use, which is true of every website and outside anyone here's control.

If you email

The only way to contact Nielsen Digital, LLC through this site is a mailto: link. Selecting it opens the mail application you already use; the message travels from your mail provider to the company's mail provider. The website is not involved and never sees the message, the address you sent it from, or the fact that you sent one.

What arrives is email, and it is treated like email: it is kept in the company mailbox, read, and used to reply to you and to keep a record of the conversation. It is not added to a mailing list, not sold, not rented, and not shared with anyone else except where the law requires it. If you would like your correspondence deleted, ask in a reply and say so.

Please do not send passwords, payment card numbers, or other secrets by email — that is general advice about email, not about this company.

The products are separate

This notice covers this website only.

MyDIYGarage is a separate application at a separate domain, with accounts, stored data, and payments — none of which exist here. It is governed by its own privacy policy and terms, published on that site. Nothing on this page describes what MyDIYGarage does with your data; read its policy for that.

DriveWP is not released, has no users, and collects nothing from anyone.

Links to other sites

This site links out — to mydiygarage.com, for example. Following a link takes you somewhere with its own privacy practices, which this notice does not cover and cannot promise anything about. Links are plain links: no click tracking, no redirect service, no referral parameters.

Children

This is a company website with no accounts and no sign-up. It is not directed at children. Nothing here asks anyone their age, because nothing here asks anyone anything — there is no form, no account, and no script in the browser.

The one thing that is recorded is recorded the same way for everybody: a child loading this page produces the same access-log line as anyone else, and there is no way to tell which is which, nor any attempt to. Those log lines are read to operate the site and are deleted on the schedule described above.

Changes to this notice

If the site ever adds something that collects data in your browser — an analytics script, a contact form with a backend, an embedded widget — this page will be updated to say so before or at the same time as that change ships, and the date at the top will change with it.

The same goes for the other half, which is the half a reader cannot check. If what is done with the access logs changes — a longer retention, a new consumer of them, any purpose beyond operating this site — this page gets updated too. An earlier draft of this notice claimed no analytics happened at all, which was not true of the logs; that is corrected above, and it is the reason this section now names both kinds of change rather than only the visible one.
